What is a Discount from Agency Commission?
To stay competitive on the market every Agency has the possibility to offer an additional discount from their commission via Booking Manager. This is easily controllable in the system by setting up general discounts or more targeted discount rules. However, to preserve fair play on the market and avoid price dumping, Charter Operator also has the right to limit the maximum discount given from commission.
Maximum agency discount is set up to 10% by default in Booking Manager and every Charter Operator is able to modify the percentage in accordance to their terms and conditions or policy.
How to set Maximum Discount from Agency Commission
Charter Operator can set up Maximum discount from agency commission from their Local Booking Manager application in the following way:
- From the Main menu choose Preferences
- Open reservation settings
- Select the Invoice tab
- Set the % of the maximum allowed discount from agency
- Click on Apply
From that moment, Agencies booking the boats from this particular charter operator are not allowed to lower the price more than a given percentage.
How does it Work for the Agent - Example
Every agent using the Portal can set his additional discount rule by either entering the general discount:
- Go to My Account
- Select Reservation Settings
- Choose Defaults to set up default discount to be applied at all times
or to enter a more flexible discount rule as described here https://support.booking-manager.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002090991-How-to-manage-additional-agency-discounts
Depending on the % rule set up from the Charter Operator side, Booking Manage will not allow the agency to offer more discount than allowed.
In this example, a special discount entered from the agency side has a value of 7%:
But as Charter operator has set up a limitation to 5%, the agency will not be able to give more than 5% additional discount for that certain Charter Operators boat.
